The things that I love about this light is the brightness. These are super bright lights. The CRI is high and I notice that a lot when I am grading footage and how much I have to apply correction. It¡¯s awesome that they provide the diffuser because it is a must for softer lighting.

I have used these lights for several weeks now. At first I used them plugged in to 120VAC, but they also last a long time using good batteries – many days of shooting real estate advertising green screen videos clips. The ability to change the color temperature and brightness adds great flexibility in video production. For example, the silly clip I did using a cow pasture at sunset required me to match my own subject lighting in front of the green screen to the late afternoon lighting of the background video I was using. I absolutely love this lighting kit. It comes with everything secured in one nice bag, and inside the light stands and the panels come in (I believe it’s felt) bags. Everything is well protected. These lights go from cold, to warm and in the middle. Normal gels (that are sold separately) just clamp or tape on over the barn doors to provide a nice accented color light if that’s what you’re looking for for.
These lights are controlled by either the dials on the back or the “GVM Easily” app. Super duper lightweight and perfectly bright for just about any situation now.
If you want to use it on battery power, It does REQUIRE both battery slots to have a battery for the device to turn on. Overall, would purchase again. Wish I purchased the rgb version but I didn’t have the cash. These are amazing.

If you are looking for an inexpensive lighting kit, here you are! I used these lights for photoshoots and a small independent film (about 6 people) and they were awesome!
They will suck the crap out of the batteries used (btw, each light uses two batteries – I missed that note somehow) so keep quite a few extra ones on deck unless you are going to use the power adapter cord.

I love how I can adjust the temperature of the lights to warmer or cooler either manually or remotely with the easy to use app on my iPhone. I have lots of LED lights, in addition to at least 50 tungsten Arri, fluorescent, and inexpensive LED bulbs and lights. But I didn’t have a medium-sized LED light with a sturdy and adjustable frame. This set came with two lamps, two stands, and a carrying case. Forget the stands, unless you have no stands at all. These are the inexpensive ones that everybody includes in their kits. Okay for starters. The case is good. Now the lights: These are harsh, even though they come with a plastic diffuser. The good thing is that they have barn doors and you can clip a sheet of diffusion material onto them and have a mini Lowell Softlight effect. VERY GOOD FOR QUICK VIDEO PROJECTS. These two lights and a couple of LED spots for hair lights is all you’ll need for ‘run and gun’ projects. Highly recommended. I may get more. One last thing I forgot to include: The unit ran for 90 minutes on fully charged batteries. it would bviously run longer at lower output.

These bright, professional lights are perfect for on-set shoots. Plan to plug them in or load some big batteries. The only problem I have with these is the barn door at the bottom of them as it affects the unit’s ability to tilt down. One small drawback. I’ve used these on three professional shoots so far and they’ve worked really well. They travel well. I recommend grabbing some sandbags to hold down the flimsy stands.

I purchased these softboxes to be small compared to the larger softboxes I use in my desktop setups. These are older ones that don’t have a specific color temperature indicator, but if you’re using a camera that lets you set white balance intuitively, it’s a staggering price tag.

With white and yellow light, you can mix and balance to get the desired color temperature – as warm or cool as you want. They come with a great case and are very portable! The stands were strong enough to handle what was deemed too high a weight, and it felt wobbly. If a higher height is required, we will use a heavier stand. We are big fans of these lights and at this price you can’t beat it!

It’s amazing how much light a video needs. Initially I tried to shoot indoors with the lights in my house, but it wasn’t enough. These lights aren’t very bright either, but they get the job done. I’m using a tiny 4/3 camera with an aperture set around 8 so I don’t have to worry about autofocus, and the lights make the room bright enough (I’m also using an umbrella to diffuse). But without these lights it would be an almost black screen. I think these are really good for beginners and things on a lower budget, but be aware that sometimes you need a really bright light and these may not be enough. These are better if you use a wider aperture.

The quality is much higher than I expected. Especially the tripod that comes with the set. Usually you get some cheap, flimsy tripods that barely hold your gear so much that it just goes through. But these tripods are definitely better than regular junk tripods. If you’re on camera, the light is definitely good enough for portraiture or blog/YouTube videos, I’d even say you need to turn down the power a little or you might be too bright. The overall quality is very good, first time shooting with them today, no worries at all.

My son is a film pro and professional videographer and he bought these lights and loves them so much I bought a set for myself and they are really good. It has more LED panels and four flaps to control the lighting, which is much better than a cone-shaped shade with a single bulb. If you’re a filmmaker, this is the real deal. But they don’t come with a battery pack that I can’t recommend! Trying to find an electrical outlet when you’re in different places can be a pain. So I ordered batteries for both sets of lights. Two sets of lights from this manufacturer require 4 rechargeable lithium batteries. These really gave me a lot of flexibility in my last filmmaking adventure. It has daylight and incandescent light settings. We have to illuminate the cat sitting on the shelf behind the garage with the garage door closed, but make it look like daylight is coming in from the open garage door. We were able to perfectly match the follow-up shots we did with the open garage entrance with plenty of sunlight. When I edited the footage back to back, you simply couldn’t tell the cat was actually sitting in a dimly lit space. I can’t say enough about these lights.

The lights were about half the size I imagined and initially worried if they would be up to the task – then I plugged them in and turned them on. Wow! If you do outdoor advanced photography, these handy little lights are a real POWERHOUSE. Use it in your arsenal to make it easier to move the lighting stand around for the perfect shot you want, or for extra lighting when shooting outdoors. This review is entirely based on my customer service experience at GVM. There are many helpful comments about the quality of the light kit. Yes, I’ll give a thumbs up! However, when I discovered a problem with one of the tripod’s knobs (the ones used to stabilize the feet), I called GVM customer service and spoke with Ken, who quickly resolved my issue. They did admit to a possible manufacturing defect, had me send images to make sure they understood where the defect was, and quickly sent a replacement bracket within a day or so. No hassle, no need to ship back a faulty stand. Seamless! While this isn’t the most expensive backlight kit, it’s not the cheapest either. The technology on this packaging is great and the quality is equally well done. So of course you want everything in good working order. I’m grateful that the folks at GVM met my request effortlessly.

I bought these to replace 2 incandescent bulbs that use 300 watt bulbs. They are smaller and lighter, and provide similar light in terms of brightness and warmth (when both whites and yellows are set to full brightness). The biggest benefit is that the room doesn’t get hot from the high wattage. They’re easy to set up and adjust, and the stand is well made. I use these mostly for video, give me good lighting and a green screen and they do a great job.

I bought this kit and have been using it as my go-to lighting kit for feature films. Quick and easy setup, very lightweight and portable, with virtually no power consumption or heat. Two lights address 90% of lighting situations and can be blended with available lights and “utility” to complement, fill or create additional light directions. Color temperature and brightness are infinitely variable, so mixing and matching with other lights is perfect. The company’s product support is unmatched. Even after my warranty expired, they solved the problem with one of my lights by sending me a replacement right away that arrived within 3 days! They will always be my go-to for new lights!

I am very happy with the GVM LED lighting kit I purchased and used for a recent music video shoot. I’m doing green screen work and need the right amount of light to illuminate the green screen evenly and ignore any shadows. I was also challenged with overloaded circuits and the potential fire hazard of a traditional lighting kit, so these LED lights gave me peace of mind and comfort while shooting. They are lightweight, move around and manipulate light, and can be adjusted as described. They don’t generate heat when turned on. The batteries I use for these (purchased and recommended separately) are Powerextra NP-F960/F970 purchased on Amazon. The battery lasts for 4-6 hours of shooting. I’ve used LED lighting kits from other major brands in other scenes and it works great. It is not surprising that these products are constantly “out of stock”. They are a great find for the money. These lights are reasonably priced and they work well. While I haven’t had this video light long my initial thoughts are this is an incredible value. The light works as advertised, and included all the necessary accessories (e.g. charger, filters, stand etc.) One unit puts out a ton of light. Additionally, the light intensity is adjustable to support shooting in a variety of different settings. Only time will tell on how it will hold up but based on what I’ve seen to this point I would definitely recommend the product!!

I just received my light today. The packaging comes together nicely. Each light and each stand comes in its own velvet pouch (elegant) and the lights are very bright. Brighter than I expected. The app easily connects to my lights. Let me start by saying that the GVM 480 is the best choice for buck LED lights. You can’t go wrong. I have been using the first generation product for a year and it has helped me a lot. A year ago, I thought the GVM 480 was a good deal. The second generation is now much better and cheaper than the one I bought a year ago. It can be operated using an app (Android and IOS)The app is responsive, I can control a light 20 feet away in another room, and it syncs in both directions, the app syncs with the light itself, and vice versa.You can also control multiple lights. For example, you can control two 480 LED lights and one RGB light without exiting the app. I’m planning to buy a GVM RGB light and it’s good to know that it works with the same application.The build quality is top notch and the light quality of the CRI 97 is amazing. Just in case you don’t know what a CRI is… Natural sunlight equals 100 CRI, while GVM lights have a CRI of 97+, almost perfect, and pair well with the big boy LED lights. A diffuser plate works great, but you can always dissipate it more if you want to use an umbrella or a 3rd square softbox.I have nothing bad to say about light. The only thing I wish it had his battery status light.

Honestly, this is one of the best lighting kits I’ve used at this price. At this point, I’ve had these lights for over a year now and they’re still working great. The lights themselves feature a wide range of brightness and temperature options that can be dialed in by the user. The stands are big enough to hold the lights, but given the price point, that’s a given. The only thing I would encourage buyers to consider is a softbox, as it can really soften the light used indoors if necessary. I would definitely encourage a purchase.

I’m a work-from-home employee, adding video conferencing to most of our internal and client-facing meetings, and I need better exterior lighting. I searched a lot of brands and types and found these. I have one on my desk at the 1 o’clock and 9 o’clock positions. Using the app is very easy to set the color and brightness to give the video a natural color and brightness which needs to not look like a production studio but looks very professional. I get a lot of comments from colleagues about my video setup because I also bought a BCC950 Logitech (speaker and camera in one) for my video conferencing center. The price is excellent value for the whole product, and the quality and performance of the product are top notch.

Couldn’t be happier with this set to light up the second bedroom we use to teach remote Pilates and gyro work. The light is strong enough to adjust the temperature and brightness to accommodate the changing light from the windows. The panels themselves create a nice soft light that we’ve been using directly and bouncing off the ceiling. Great quality for the price of this set! The whole thing folds up for easy storage when not working. We’ve been using them for the past six months and they’ve worked really well.

These lights work just fine. They’re very bright, even at the lowest setting, if it’s very close to you, it’s still bright. Warm and cold settings and lighting adjustments work well. The only thing I want is some kind of diffuser. I find the light to be bright and harsh. It doesn’t have any filters, so keep that in mind. Overall, I love these lights, they work great.

I absolutely love this lighting kit. It holds everything in a nice bag, inside the light stand and panel (felt I believe) bag. Everything is well protected. These lights go from cold to warm and in between. The regular gel (sold separately) simply clips or tapes onto the barn door for a nice accent shade, if that’s what you’re looking for. The lights are controlled by a dial on the back or the “GVM Easy” app. Super lightweight and very bright, suitable for almost any situation these days.It does require batteries in both battery slots to turn the device on if you want to run it on battery power. Overall, will buy again. Wish I bought the rgb version but I don’t have the cash. These are fantastic.

It does provide extra lighting, but the flash works best in darker rooms. I would say these are better for illuminating the subject rather than the room, but help to light up the room with the flash.

I’ve worked in TV news production for 20 years, so I’m used to having professional-grade lighting all the time. I now work alone for a small business with a small budget. While these aren’t the best or brightest LED light panels you can buy, they can get the job done on a sprig. The included carrying case is almost perfect. The stand feels fairly durable and reaches a good height. If you’re shooting small-scale indoor videos of a single subject, these might suit your needs. Beyond that, you need to look for a higher-level lighting solution.

I work for an enterprise software company. I ordered these lights so I could level up when doing client demos. I use external cameras, external microphones, and it doesn’t feel like there’s enough light through my natural light sources (windows) or ceiling fan lights. They actually produced too much light so I needed to soften them. I called customer support for help and they recommended a softbox diffuser. I really just want the frame-mounted “soft light boards” mentioned in the manual, but those are no longer available for this model of light. They were kind enough to give me a deal on two softboxes. Excellent customer support – I’m happy so far.

Exactly what I was looking for. I almost didn’t buy these because there were so many comments from the people in the stands. Let me tell you, this lamp is awesome! These lights are reasonably priced and work well. Although I haven’t had this video light in a long time, my initial thought was that it was an incredible value. The light works as advertised, including all necessary accessories (eg charger, filter, stand, etc.). A unit emits a lot of light. Additionally, the light intensity is adjustable to support shooting in a variety of different settings. Only time will tell how it will hold up, but based on what I’ve seen so far, I’d definitely recommend this product! I am very happy with this set, it is exactly what I was looking for and has really improved my video quality: wonderful lighting! These lights are great, especially for the money! I am very satisfied with my current purchase. Even if these only last a year or two, I feel the purchase is worth it. However, if handled reasonably well, I don’t see why these lights don’t last much longer. The most important thing for me is the light output, but I haven’t been able to experiment extensively with them other than a quick test. I’ll post my results whenever I get a chance.

I have a lot of LED lights except at least 50 Arri tungsten, fluorescent and cheap LED bulbs and lamps. But I don’t have a medium LED light with a sturdy and adjustable frame. The set comes with two lights, two stands and a carrying case. Forget the stands, unless you don’t have one at all. These are the cheap ones that everyone includes in their kit. OK, for starters. The case is good. Lights now: Even though they come with plastic diffusers, they’re harsh. The good news is that they have barn doors, you can clip a sheet of diffuser material to them, and have a mini Lowell soft light effect. Great for quick video projects. These two lights and a couple of LED dots for glowing lights are all you need for the Run and Gun project. highly recommended. I might get more. One last thing I forgot to include: The unit ran for 90 minutes on a fully charged battery. It will run longer with lower output.

I bought 3 of these lights two years ago, but recently bought two packs of the same LED light panels. A pair arrived with a problem with the orange LED controlling one of the panels, but calls to GVM’s help number were quickly replaced by mail, only asking for cellphone video so they could see the problem. All of these panels can be individually controlled via a WIFI app, available as a free download from the Play Store. They all work well together out of the box, but only manually. If you want to control them remotely, you need to use the app. Most of the time, my light panels are mounted on ceiling supports in my studio, so they can’t be reached except via a ladder. The latest version of the app is much better than the 2-year-old version, but it still has some small quirks that could be refined, and the instructions for using the app are sadly lacking in detail. So from my experience, here is some additional info on how to control these lights remotely via the app. The app is available for free through the Play Store. Download it to your phone, then use the instructions below and you should be able to set up each light board to work remotely via the phone app.When using the app, the phone must be switched from its internet WIFI connection to the desired LED panel to gain control. For multiple lights, each light must be renamed so that each light can be handled individually. Out of the box, each has the same GVM-LED name. You can rename via the app maintenance screen (upper left button) on your phone. They don’t all use one WIFI name to work remotely. Renaming is done via the App, it’s simple, but during the renaming process, only the lamp being renamed can be powered on. “GVM-ADMIN” is the password. It’s also in the paper instructions. I use GVM-LED1, GVM-LED2, etc. as my renaming scheme.

I purchased a 2-pack LED video lighting kit, mainly for video production, and it works great. They’re bright enough, and the digital display makes it easy to set color temperature and brightness. The stand is sturdy and comes with a diffuser and barn door. Because they are LEDs, they don’t get as hot as some other commonly used lights. The case they come with is nice, although I don’t like how prominent the logo is on the case and product. While this product is comparable to more expensive lighting setups, it’s best not to note that it’s not a fact – but it’s a personal preference and won’t affect how well the kit actually works. I bought some cheap F550 batteries and the lights and the supplied power cord work fine. I haven’t tested how long each charge lasts. I was able to connect to the lights via the app as they broadcast their own wifi signal, but I was only able to figure out how to connect to one at a time, which ultimately wasn’t a feature I wanted to use very often, as the knob on the back was just as handy. Finally, if you’re looking for a set of bright, adjustable LED video lights and have a relatively small budget, I’d recommend this set. The kit includes everything you need to get started, and the battery is affordable if you need it.

These are great value for money! I love them! These lightweight and powerful lights are suitable for any home photographer, videographers of all kinds or even studio productions. They function very much like professional Kino lights. We originally intended to buy Fresnel lights, but these are much cheaper but just as high quality, not to mention they are safer to use, so they are great for beginners and those of us with a jacking crew without formal production experience. You can easily adjust warmth and coolness with the dial on the back. A digital interface on the back of the lights ensures they look exactly the same, so no guesswork. I love that it plugs into any standard 3-pin socket, and I don’t need XLR inputs to use them. The case they come in is very stylish and professional, although I wish it was a bit bigger as it is hard to fit it all in. Still, they are very portable and easy to install and carry. In short, these stunning lights are perfect for beginners and a wide range of video production needs. Very simple but very powerful. Love.

Perfect for our product photos for Amazon and Ebay. We upgraded from basic bulb lights with large umbrellas. The light produced is roughly 4 times the size of the lamp. Love that you can adjust the colors for different types of items. I have them connect to Alexa and simply say “Alexa, open Studio”. So easy and convenient. Will probably order more and plan to mount them higher up for larger items. For less than $150 shipping (including the entire setup), it’s easy. Well done GVM….

I have been using these lights for a few weeks. At first I plugged them into 120VAC, but they also last a long time on good quality batteries – many days shooting real estate ad green screen video clips. The ability to change color temperature and brightness adds great flexibility to video production. For example, a silly clip I made with a cow pasture at sunset asked me to match my own subject lighting in front of a green screen to the late afternoon lighting of the background video I was using.
