Description
The 1000D RGB LED Studio Video Light Bi-Color Soft Light Panel from GVM is a compact light source measuring just 12.5 x 12.5 x 1.6″. It has a wide CCT color range from a warm 3200K to daylight-balanced 5600K to meet any ambient light challenge, match other fixtures, or just for creative expression. The light’s high CRI rating of 97 is an indicator of advanced accuracy in rendering color.
The 1000D also has an RGB mode (Red, Green, Blue) with hue, saturation, and intensity control for access to a myriad of color combinations for fine-tuning and customizing the light’s output. You can make adjustments on the fixture but you can also make them wirelessly with your smartphone in APP mode via a free download.
The 1000D has a wide beam spread that can be narrowed with the four-way barndoors. Simply swing one or more of the barndoor leaves into the path of the beam to light areas that you want to and keep light from areas that you don’t want illuminated.
The panel is dimmable too, from 0 to 100%. Featuring aluminum construction, the fixture has a yoke that allows 360° rotation for unlimited positioning options. The light runs on 100-240 voltage using the included AC adapter, but it will also run on two optional NP-F-type batteries when mains power is unavailable. The 1000D comes with a soft diffuser and a carry case for storage and transport.

Sky –
The GVM 1000D RGB Light Kit is a versatile, compact and travel ready set of lights, capable of wirelessly syncing for easy setup and control.
BUILD:
The case including 2 lights, 2 stands, and power cables, all breaks down to a kit that is as small as a briefcase.
The lights with built in flags and diffusers fold down flat and are about an inch thick.
The stands fold into themselves to be less than 2 feet long. The stands are super lightweight. I wouldn¡¯t use them or any larger lights, but they¡¯re perfectly suited for these lights. Every piece comes with a velvet bag to protect it while in the supplied case. The case is hard, but flexible.
SETUP:
It takes me about 2 minutes from in the case to fully set up. It¡¯s all extremely simple to figure out. No need for the GVM app, as there are two knobs and several buttons to change the mode; White/Tungsten; RGB; Effects; and to change the brightness or saturation when in RGB mode.
WIRELESS SYNC:
What I find to be an essential feature in this light set is it¡¯s wireless sync between multiple GVM lights. No longer do I have to set one light to a mode, color, or brightness, only to have to walk over and do it again on the other lights. Once both, or multiple lights are set on the same channel, one set to Master and the others to Slave, one light controls them all. With multiple light sets on multiple channels, complex lighting can be controlled with only a few touches.
While the lights can be used without any need for a remote or app control, the app is available to quickly dial in particular colors in RGB mode, change brightness, effects, etc. This will be especially helpful in case I do end up with a huge array of these GVM lights¡ which it¡¯s looking like may be happening.
POWER:
They take NP batteries (2) or can be plugged in. Either way I found they have the same brightness.
I found you must use both batteries at the same time.
The power adapters do have a small transformer on them, with a cord about 5 feet long. I use velcro straps to tie them down to the stands when they¡¯re at full height. There¡¯s also an included 10¡¯ extension cord to go from the transformer.
FEATURES:
While I¡¯ll likely stick to using this kit on RGB mode, as color accent and fill lights, they¡¯re perfectly capable of being key lights. They¡¯ve got a criss-cross array of RGB LED¡¯s interspersed with White+Tungsten LED¡¯s. That way whichever mode you¡¯re using, the light should be even. White/Tungsten on it¡¯s own is a whole light category that this light fits in¡ then there¡¯s RGB as well; It¡¯s a very versatile kit to have all three different types of light. If you need it or just want it for fun, the effects are TV flicker, candle light, police lights, lightning, paparazzi flashes, and can also be set to cycle through the colors for parties.
OVERVIEW:
There¡¯s a lot of RGB lights on the market these days, but it seems like GVM is coming strong with this product and others like it. With Daylight+Tungsten+RGB and wireless control, I¡¯m super happy with this kit. It¡¯s also nice that it¡¯s so compact so my storage space isn¡¯t overwhelmed and portable for when I want to add some color on set. For $260 at the time of this review, I think it¡¯s a easy buy for adding color YouTuber studios like my own.
Poc Network // Tech –
It doesn’t take rocket science to set any of it up outside of downloading the app and connecting the lights (if you haven’t done that before with any of GVM’s connected lights). Within a few moments, the lights are up and going. They have two dial controls on the back that allow for (1) adjusting brightness and (2) adjusting hue, saturation, and temperature (etc). You then have a mode button with an up and down arrow (buttons) to flip through the options with. Although you’ll likely find yourself doing everything via the app unless you’re in a hurry.
The app process is simple and it doesn’t take long to get everything connected. This is what makes this light so valuable for your shoot since you don’t have to run around to adjust them by hand. Not only can you control them from the app, but they can be set up in host/slave configuration so that you are only adjusting one light, and then the other will follow along with whatever that light does.
They each have two battery slots on the back for mobile use. However, they do not come with any batteries. They do come with the AC cords for regular wall power (for each light) though, which fits the needs of most situations.
They have special themes, such as party modes, a paparazzi flash effect, and a lightning effect. These are pretty cool (we especially liked the paparazzi effect and will most likely make use of that in a project at some point, just because it is there). This makes them a great candidate for videos all the same (ie, efx music videos). Adjusting these would likely find yourself using the app (once again) as it is just easier to quickly get around between options with.
The presentation of the product, in general, is nice. It comes with a nice padded/soft carrying bag to store everything in. When you open it, everything looks well organized and protected in individual felt bags so they remain in good condition between setups (assuming you keep your bags at least)
They are light enough in weight, which makes them good for travel or moving them around. I mean, there is some lift involved, but nothing abnormal when you compare them to any other professional gear you’d be lugging around. The quality of materials is just right, along with the tripods (although they are a bit stiff to open up and close). They feel like they will last a long time, which is important when you are looking for a return on your investment.

I am very happy with these lights. The build quality is much better than expected. For the price I was expecting something much more flimsy and not as bright as they are. I used them for a quick project at work and they did just the trick.
The colors and effects are pretty great too. I like that this will pair up directly with my phone so I can control the lights remotely.

Brightness is fine for my small 13x15x7.5 studio. The versatility is great. Warm white, cool blue white, RGB colors. All with almost infinite gradation. Rugged enough. Compact. Built-in barn doors. Stands lightweight but adequate. Not heavy enough for a boom. App is good. Clunky for controlling more than one fixture, but doable. All in all, great item. GVM is a low-budget actor that had its act together.

I’ve been wanting to add a set of quality RGB lights to my YouTube studio for some time now. It was my thought that the RGB Panel Lights offered the best set of features and provided the most flexibility for me.
Looking through all the available options, considering my budget and feature requirements, I ended up going with the GVM 1000D RGB Video Lights. Given GVM is well respected and used by top content creators, I was sure I couldn’t go wrong with the 1000D.
I went with the 2 Pack option and here are a few of my thoughts.

The output is good, this light uses normal dome style LEDs on the bicolor side and SMD panel mount bulbs on the RGB side, the bicolor bulbs seem denser than the previous lights, so I think this light has a similar effect than some of my other The power light has a little more output. As for the RGB side, the colors are very bright and you can get very deep colors…much darker than gels but still maintain high output. Overall, I am very happy with this light and will probably buy another to round out the studio.

GVM products are well made and great value for money, and this 1000D RGB light is no exception. The light stand and main frame are made of aluminum, with only real plastic on the barn door and light control panel. Using the app on this light is easier than on previous GVM lights because it uses the GVM II app and you can link it in less than 15 seconds. Just switch the light to the APP, then open the app and it will scan for BT items once found in the list you tap to connect. That’s it.. No need to set up WiFi. Plus, I can use these lights without disconnecting my phone from the WiFi network.

The great feature of this GVM light is the option to run on batteries or the included power adapter. A huge plus for me is that I’m always nervous if you’re on the go or somewhere without a socket, it has 2 NP battery sockets on each side (batteries sold separately). Choosing a battery is a good idea.

It also comes with 2 tripod light stands, but I recommend sandbags to keep it from falling. It also comes with 2 softboxes and 2 white diffusers. Installing a softbox is a bit of a challenge. You must remove the bezel to install the softbox. Make sure you have a Ziploc bag handy. You don’t want to lose these screws.

They also feature 8 pre-built lighting scenes (Lightning, Paparazzi, Disco, Party, etc.) that you can use if you’re shooting certain scenes when you’re pressed for time. RGB matches most of the colors you need and can be used in all different situations. I used one light as the key light and a second light of a different color to set the mood. I’m thinking of replacing my softboxes because they’re too big and bulky, so I’ve been looking for something like this. As advertised, this set of lights fits nicely in a travel bag. The bag is big enough to fit them perfectly and has room for other stuff if you need it. Compared to my softbox, these lights are very light, small, and bright.

Their customer service is great. After my first use, I knocked over a bracket and broke the part that connects the light to the bracket. I asked if they sold that part. They got back to me right away and said they would mail that part to me for free! When you have such a good price, you would think it’s too good to be true, but it’s actually real, affordable and very bright (adjustable via the back and remote).

I used these for a video in a very dark church on a grey rainy day. This photo is a still from the video. I left them on for 8 hours (I turned them off for a moment in between). The whole package comes with a nice carrying bag.

This super bright LED light kit is awesome. Not only do you get 2 lights (with a tall stand), but the remote makes using these lights super easy. My favorite part is that both lights can be controlled with the same remote. When two lights are on the same group letter, you can change the brightness and color temperature at the same time. Also, adjusting one light (using the dial on the back of the light) will also change the other light when the lights are on the same group letter. Now, don’t let me confuse you, they can all be set to different brightness and color temperatures.

Anyone who wants a great product for very little money, such as product photography, can use this set! Easy to use, very bright and easy to set up. A valuable, nice bag for storage and shipping. I can’t confirm that the lights (as others have written) sometimes turn on by themselves. But most of the time I use the on/off switch to turn off the lights completely at night.

The handling of lights and remotes is mediocre. The plastic gives the impression of being cheap, and the knobs on the lights are rather “loose”. But nothing affects usability.

The light is softer than typical LED lights, but not as soft as diffuse studio lights. It would be nice to have a diffuser as an accessory. If you use one, you can create wonderful flowing shadows, but of course you have a lower light output. However, with the light sensitivity of today’s cameras, this isn’t really an issue.

I measured the brightness at 1m with 1000lux at 4400 Kelvin (I don’t know why the talk is always about lumens). At 3000 or 5600K it’s slightly less.

I love the GVM brand, I used their lights to take pictures a long time ago. This double bag is great, fully programmable, master-slave setup, and comes with a remote, shoulder straps and everything. Great for video and stills, great for green screens and streaming. Great value for money.

Not sure what to expect when I received the kit. It must be said that this bag fits everything, the panels are easy to mount on the stand, and I really like the different fusion of light temperatures. It is possible to switch from daylight mode to soft amber very quickly. I also appreciate the remote because a lot of the location shoots I’m doing are shot alone…

This is a nice combo pack. The bag is nice. They provide you with straps to secure the power unit to the stand. The lights are really solid. They may not be professional grade, but they are close. There are many small LEDs so you don’t need a diffuser. The remote is intuitive and works well. Very versatile. I am pleasantly surprised at this price. I am considering buying another pair.

A friend of mine bought some of these and I helped him set them up. After playing with them for a while, I was very impressed with the features. The ability to link them together in groups/channels is absolutely awesome! And being able to control them with a remote is even more exciting! I’ve been shooting a video with these so far and I know they’ll do just fine! I am planning to buy some batteries so I can operate them wirelessly! These are definitely making their way into my studio!

When this item arrives, one of the power bricks is dead when it arrives. The seller replaced it for me quickly, and the communication was very good. I’ve been using the lighting kit for a few weeks and found the tonal and brightness range to be very good, with adequate adjustability and light diffusion. I use the remote more than I thought it would, and I’m glad I have it. I am so glad I purchased this lighting kit.

This is a great product. I haven’t used the remote yet. I’ve used it while interviewing batteries offsite. I haven’t used the plugin yet. I encourage you to buy batteries (2 per light). With my Canon M50 camera, the lights really make my recordings pop.
