These lights are excellent. The quality of the manufacture and materials used is first rate. The ease of use of these lights surpasses the numerous video led lights I have previously used. They are compact, easy to assemble and disassemble, and consume low power (50 watts each). The brightness exceeded my expectation and the ability to dial in the precise color temperature is perfect for video production. Additionally, the ability to select the desired RGB hue and brightness tops my list of performance needs. I am a Director and Producer and I definitely would recommend these lights, especially for the price and quality. The lights I purchased were 2 sets of the 2-pack, GVM 50RS RGB Lighting Kits. They come in a quality and compact case that not only holds 2 of the lights, but also the stands, power supplies and room for additional batteries to use without having to be tied to a power cord. If you¡¯re considering this type of a production light, give these a try. They are working very well and the Slave feature allows you to wirelessly control multiple lights by only adjusting one (master and slaves). Good luck with your productions.

I’m a photographer & a Videographer. These are great lights to have for your photo/videography works at your studio. The build quality of the lights is very good & its an Aluminium construction. The light control adjustment knobs are good. There are three adjustments, Brightness, Saturation and Hue. The lights can be changed from cool warm to Daylight and to RGB color. Its also very bright and came well packaged in its own case. No complaints. I previously had the regular Bi-Polar lights returned it for this RGB light. For my Studio work, this has been very useful & versatile as I can switch this from Daylight to Warm and to RGB lights depending on what I intend to shoot. The brightness is very good and the ability to dial in the precise color temperature is perfect for my video & Photography work.
The lights are well built with a good carrying case. The Slave features is nice to have as it allows you to wirelessly control multiple lights by only adjusting one (master and slaves).
My only complaint is the Barn doors. They could have been better & easier to mount like other competitor lights. Wish the power cable was longer.
Overall an excellent light!! I’m really Happy with this purchase as its more versatile lights for work. I highlly recommend this RGB lights.

I work on location very often as a one man band so I always wanted a set of lights that¡¯s easy to setup.
This lighting kit from GVM comes in a carrying bag of 2 light stands and two RGB/Bi-color LED panels, the GVM 50RS. The LED panel is equipped with either a AC power adapter or two Sony batteries (the batteries sold separately). It has a built in LCD digital display for accurate brightness and temperature adjusting. There are two knobs right under the LCD, one for the brightness and the other for the color temperature, HUE and Saturation. But most of the time, I use the GVM app to control the lights remotely. The barn door and the diffusers can be used to control the light quality.
Here are some basic setups for the 50RS LED Panels that I used for my daughter¡¯s videos.
In the first setup, I used one light with the large diffuser as the main light and the other light with the barn door as the kicker light. The skin tone at 5600K looks very natural and nice.
In the second setup, I turned the kicker light towards the background and from there I changed the white background to any color I liked.
I highly recommend this lighting kit for filming YouTube videos

As a content creator, I needed a lighting kit that can adapt to different shooting scenarios. What I really like about this lighting kit is that it produces RGB lighting as well as bi-color lighting. The lights can be controlled wirelessly using either the control panel on the back of the panel or the smartphone app that is available for ios or android.
In my scenario, I use these lights to color my background for video shoots. I also use them as a key light and rim light. The included diffusion options put out nice soft lighting when using these lights as a key light.
The only finicky thing about these lights is the use of the smartphone app. I will follow up my review with a video demo of how to use the smartphone app properly.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase of these lights. They give me the options I was looking for when coloring backgrounds, providing key light and rim light and also setting up creative lighting for photography work. This is a really versatile lighting kit for both videography and photography.

Can¡¯t say enough but being a film maker and studio photographer these lights are easy to control and stay cool which is a Hugh benefit, especially in a hot climate like Los Angeles.

These lights are absolutely phenomenal. The kit comes with 3 LED panels along with the appropriate tripods and power cords. These LED lights are powerful and sturdy! I have no doubt these are high quality. Even the carrying tote that is included with the purchase is high quality. I liked mine so much I emailed their support team for an additional tote. They were quick to reply and assisted me with an extra tote at no extra charge. EXCELLENT customer service!

This was a complete makeover compared to the old GVM 50-RS. They added real tungsten LED, Now has 8 light effects, better barndoors! The previous model. the “tungsten” light was coming from the RGB LEDs which I could not use it for matching any tungsten lighting making it only useful as an “effect”. Now, I can use the tungsten color like any other LED light I know.
The barndoors were also improved, no more fighting with the thing. The old 50_RS barndoors were made of metal and the new light comes with plastic ones, but they are lighter, do the same thing and extremely resistant to bending or breaking.
This kit comes with everything I need to bring to a location and start shooting.
Diffusion panels: The old one had a heavier, “whiter” diffusion panels. The new ones are coming with a more transparent diffuser, BUT, at first, I didn’t like it but then I realized that that’s actually better. Why? Because a heavier diffuser gives you LESS light output. With the lighter diffuser, I can get some diffusion but NOT enough for interviews, even if you use the extra panel provided. I use these lights primarily for throwing light at walls and anything background related. Not as a key light. If you need MORE diffusion, I have the solution. Buy a Rosco diffuser GEL (it varies in levels of diffusion to your needs), then attach it to the panel. Works PERFECTLY.
The stangs that come with these, I was shocked how WIDE they open! That means SUPER STABLE against wobbling or falling. It opens crazy wide, but you can also set it less wide to fit tight spaces.
Overall, this new 50-RS is a MAJOR improvement over the old, and I’m very happy with my purchase.

The light I purchased is a GVM 50RS RGB lighting kit. They come in a premium and compact housing, give it a try if you’re considering this type of production light. They work well and the slave feature allows you to wirelessly control multiple lights by adjusting just one (master and slave). Good luck with your work.

Brightness is excellent, and being able to dial in a precise color temperature is perfect for my video and photography work.

I used to have regular bipolar lights returning it for this RGB light. For my studio work this is very useful and versatile as I can switch it from daylight to warm and RGB lights depending on what I plan to shoot.

I am a photographer and videographer. These are great lights for your photo/video work in your studio. The build quality of the lamp is very good, it is an aluminum construction. The light control adjustment knob is nice. There are three adjustments, Brightness, Saturation and Hue. Lights can be changed from cool and warm to daylight and RGB colors. It’s also very bright and packs well in its own case. Nothing to complain about.
Clare –
The lighting is well made and the RGB mode is easy to use. External diffusion is a nice touch if you need extra soft light, and the fact that you also get a light stand is a huge bonus. If you’re on a budget but want professional color quality, I can’t recommend enough GVM lights.
Aaron –
GVM has some great lights, but these are pretty amazing. As always, they come with a great case, which is very welcome compared to other budget lights. The color accuracy of these lights is 10 times better than that of ultra high-end brands.
Chester –
These are very cheap for what they do, sturdy fixtures, keep cool even if it’s been open for hours, barn doors are useful, nice to have control over intensity and color quality, coverage for interviews and similar uses Very satisfying range – no really noticeable falloff, good case to carry the whole kit, space for batteries and other stuff
Paddy –
My video work can be traced back to portable heat lamps through multiple iterations of the first FLD softbox rig and then replacing the FLD lamps with specialized LEDs. The pair arrived the day before my location photo shoot and I knew and knew it was fairly dark, so brought these as key and fill and used one of my other fixtures to wash the background. The quality is good and I am very happy with the result. Ordered a set of non-Sony batteries (it has a built-in charging meter and – what concept – can be charged with a USB cable. In the space where I’ve been shooting interviews, the battery has been used for over 3 hours in one of the fixtures over the years The lights are clean and the battery is still running – I ordered a second set – all good.
Parker –
Overall, I am happy with the lighting. To me, the extra price, size and weight required to upgrade to better lights just wasn’t worth it.
Eric –
You can change the color temperature by turning down 1 set of LEDs. Because the lights aren’t too bright at first, if you do this, you’ll drastically reduce the amount of light the lights emit, which requires you to move the lights closer together.
Abel –
The stand is sturdier than I expected from a lightweight stand. Everything fits into the soft side pockets provided, with room for cables and more. I haven’t used the remote so I can’t comment on that.
Nelson –
I love that these lights are quick and easy to set up and are as sturdy as I would expect from a cheap light. The color temperature is true, my camera WB is the same temperature as the light settings. They weren’t as bright as I wanted, so I had to get the lights closer to the talent than I wanted.
Newman –
Let me start by saying that I was intimidated by the weight of this package. The Amazon driver was parked on the truck next to me, so I had him put it directly behind my truck, so I didn’t know how much it weighed. Well, I went back to the house (I live on the second floor in the back) and I went and picked up the box and brought it into the house, I don’t know, but this thing weighed almost 40 pounds. So I took it inside and opened it up and it was the same size as the box it was in. Inside is a very nice suitcase with everything neatly packed inside. As soon as I started taking the panel out, I noticed how heavy it was…these lights were like tanks…the body and brackets were all aluminum, with fins on the back of the body, the only part Namely the plastic is the barn door, the defogger plate and the control interface. It includes 3 power bricks and 3 light to medium light stands that seem to be of decent quality. The light itself is very bright, in the range of about 45-50 watts, but the best part is that the colors it is able to create are fantastic. The color is so deep and rich, it’s hard to do with a gel. I feel like having this level of versatility will really elevate my game. Overall, I am very pleased with my new light set and look forward to more GVM products in the future.
Charles –
I’ve bought many LED panels over the past few years, but none of them are RGB, some daylight, and many bi-color panels, and I’ve resorted to gel lights to use them as accent lighting for videos and photos. But now I’ve finally taken the leap and bought these GVM 50RS RGB panels to make things easier, and they used to do.
Elijah –
I found the GVM website to be noisy and have too much sales traffic. The California-based technical support office is very helpful in finding the right application, answering technical questions, and initial setup. This helped me avoid bad reviews and misleading information about device configuration issues.
Gale –
Nice, compact and easy to use. I gave it to my non-technical son to use in his college photography class. Portable and can be stored well in his small dorm.
John –
If you’re looking for something for your studio or in the field, the GVM QX 50RS is a great panel in your arsenal.
Franklin –
The RGB controls are one of the best I’ve seen. It allows you to adjust your tones via the excellent LCD display on the back of the panel.
Alan –
At the risk of sounding like a fan, these are great panels! This particularity is very good. Brightness and color accuracy, control and even most of the build quality are top notch! (The thumbscrews used to attach the barn door to the frame would probably be better, since the thumbscrews are omitted for a better connector.)
Vic –
With this RGB video light board, I can create better photography works, not only can adjust the color temperature, but also output countless light colors to meet my needs for different shooting scenes, perfect! The instruction manual also states that it comes with wireless multi-light control, and I’m willing to plan to buy more.
Byron –
I’m a lighting engineer and when I saw this new video light on Amazon I jumped at the chance to buy one because he didn’t comment. It’s excellent, it’s amazing. Not only does it come in standard seven colors, but also two colors from 2000k to 5600K with standard white light.
Carl –
Overall, this new 50-RS is a major improvement over the old one and I am very happy with my purchase.
Leopold –
A more transparent diffuser, but, at first, I didn’t like it, but then I realized it’s actually better. Why? Because a heavier diffuser gives you less light output. With the lighter diffuser, I can get some diffusion, but not enough for interviews, even if you use the extra panels provided. I use these lights mainly to cast light towards walls and anything that is background related. Not as a main light. If you need more diffusion, I have a solution. Buy a Rosco Diffuser GEL (the level of diffusion will vary depending on your needs) and attach it to the panel. Works perfectly. These came with spines and I was shocked by how wide they opened! This means super stable and won’t shake or fall. It opens very wide, but you can also make it smaller to fit in tight spaces.
Jerry –
The kit contains everything I need to bring to a location and start shooting.
Julian –
Doors and windows have also been improved, no longer fighting with this thing. The old 50_RS bezels are metal, the new lights are plastic, but they are lighter, do the same thing, and are very resistant to bending or breaking.
Gilbert –
Compared to the old GVM 50-RS, this is a complete makeover. They added real tungsten LEDs, now with 8 light effects, better baffles! previous model. The “tungsten light” comes from an RGB LED, and I can’t use it to match any tungsten light so it’s only used as an “effect”. Now I can use tungsten color like any other LED light I know of.
Kennedy –
I highly recommend using at least one of these lights in your overall lighting kit, with the option to use colors other than daylight and tungsten, it will really spark your creativity in lighting shots. Not only that, I’m a big proponent of getting near-final-looking film in your camera without having to rely on post-production, and this light will help you get there quickly and easily, especially with the GH5’s Waveform and vector graphics!
Blair –
One thing to note is that this LED provides more floodlights (about 120 degrees), not a more dotted panel. Long story short, this is a true “all-in-one” LED panel capable of giving beautiful colors to the background and foreground of your movie scenes, when you don’t need it, just switch to bicolor mode and continue your shooting.
Ernest –
The GVM 50RS is a very good LED panel, and I used to think that RGB LEDs were a gimmick that didn’t necessarily have any major benefits for filmmakers shooting outside of cyberpunk movies. However, after playing with this light, I can say I was wrong. What makes this light so special is that you can control not only HUE, but SATURATION as well. With this feature alone, you don’t need to bring multiple layers of colored gels to your lights, as you just switch the intensity of the colors on the spot. Not only that, but if you don’t need color when shooting, the 50RS can also be used as a standard two-color LED panel, capable of putting out enough output for regular scenes or interviews.
Edward –
Lots of options and even some surprises!
Egbert –
The perfect entry-level light.
Dylan –
The quality of light is very good, it does not show chromatic aberration, it is powerful and the app works well, although if your phone picks up the Wi-Fi signal from another device or from a place, it is easily disconnected. Value for money seems very good
Meredith –
Great lighting, great stands and amazing value! Bought them for video, but also for photography. I had a problem with my lights not having a special effect, so I contacted GVM and they fixed the problem immediately and the customer service was great! highly recommended.
Toby –
I’ve been working on LED lights and would like to utilize RGB to illuminate the scene and even fill the green screen with more green light to remove any shadows. A great benefit of seeing these well-regarded articles on youtube and other articles is that they are more affordable than many other brands.
Theodore –
I purchased a GVM 50RS and I’m having some issues. But the customer service response was very fast, and we shipped it free of charge as soon as we reported it. So it gives the impression that they care a lot about the customer experience and are happy to help and support. The quality of the lighting package is great. a+++
Darcy –
I really get the sense that GVM is trying to design products for small video makers who will never need high-end gear, not just make or license anything they can make cheaply. I am happy to support their efforts with my habits.
Jim –
When the product first arrived, I did have a problem with the screws not quite right. I contacted their support and they were polite, helpful and did a great job of making sure they resolved my issue within a week and made me a happy customer! I will definitely buy from this company again because of this experience. When I tell their support I’m happy with the way they’ve solved the problem, they do ask me if I mind sharing my feelings in the comments, I have, so keep that in mind, but if I’m not happy with them I don’t Will do.
Lester –
What needs to be considered is the company behind the product. I have some other lights from GVM that are great too, and I can see improving the product over time and listening to customer commitments as little things that people barely notice change iteratively over time. The design of the bezel, the strength of the spread, the size of the power bricks have all changed a bit over time and got better.
Hogan –
If you’re looking for a versatile panel light with the right light source size, this is a great choice. Keep in mind that the light will produce 3200K-5600K in white mode, not 2000K, but it’s RGB, so if you need that light, you can use yellow and orange. It also has no special effects, but to be honest, I’ve never used these for anything serious.
Brady –
This is a great light, there are a lot of reviews by GeraldUndone and others on YouTube, you can watch them if you want a lot of detail. The light is well made and the right size, complete with a housing diffuser and barn door.
Barton –
At this price point, you really can’t complain about an RGB panel of this size.
Alfred –
First impression is that this panel is great! I also did some research on this group before, where I found positive reviews online. I can’t say it better myself. The tote bag is sturdy and compact. Even with RGB colors, the light itself gets very bright. Light output is very soft and free of jaggedness, resulting in better video. I do like adding an extra diffuser on top of what is already on the panel.
Nick –
I have a video showing everything that is included in the box, and some videos showing all the modes and functions of the LED panel.
Baron –
This light comes with extra sheets of different thicknesses, spare bulbs, and all the extras. It’s very conscientious and is exactly the kind of suit you want. If it can’t be kept updated, but it’s made of good quality steel, plus it’s casing and all the extras, I’m sure I won’t update it.
Arno –
I’m still learning how to use it and it’s another dimension to add to your film or photography. The good news is that it’s still shot in cool and warm whites, with a bed that basically serves as a built-in umbrella (you’re probably familiar with them, but just in case).
Clarence –
If desired, the RGB lights can be modified to suit the background lighting and the color of the people, taking your photos to new heights.
Hale –
The housing of this light keeps it safe, and it has plenty of compartments for a lot of extra stuff. This light is a true next generation cinema light. RGB lights will become the industry standard, or if such lights are the standard, they should be. The case is a nice surprise, the quality is much better than par
Baldwin –
I use this light every day for photovideo work since I only bought it in an RGB setup and didn’t really see yellow or white LEDs until last week. When I did this, I noticed that I wasn’t getting any light from the white LED. I tried to reset the light, tried the app, no white LED. So I contacted GVM about the warranty and I got an easy answer. “It’s our fault, we can give you a refund or send you a new light” “It will take a while for the new light to appear, please be patient” I received the new light after 1 week and it works great. Errors can occur at any time in the manufacturing process, and we all hope that these errors can be caught and never become a problem for the customer. When those mistakes do fall into the hands of customers, how they handle them sets a company apart. GVM is definitely 5 stars
